SCOPE OF INDEX:  Limited to death notices appearing in Ann Arbor newspapers held by the Michigan Historical Collections for the years 1829-1867. (See LATHROP REPORT 1131C for probable titles of newspapers indexed.)
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A book-form index typewritten on 8½x11 inch pages. Entries are arranged in alphabetical order by name of the deceased. Entries include date of death, age at death, reason for death, family relationships, occupation and related information. The citation consists of an abbreviated name of the paper, plus the month, day and year where the article appeared.
SIZE OF INDEX:  76 pages
