SCOPE OF INDEX:  This is a subject and name index to articles appearing in several Omaha newspapers. The articles are not limited to Omaha news, but are more generally devoted to Nebraska persons and events. Usually the subject matter of the article is summarized. The index is not a comprehensive index to the Omaha newspapers for the years covered. It was probably compiled as a WPA project.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A 3x5 card file index, handwritten. Both subjects and personal names are interfiled in the same alphabet. Entries consist of a sometimes lengthy description or summary of the article, followed by the date of the newspaper where the article appeared. The name of the paper and the page and column are shown at the bottom edge of the card.
SIZE OF INDEX:  About 30,000 entries (30,000) cards) in the entire index.
