SCOPE OF INDEX:  This is a selective index concentrating primarily on Nevada historical articles. Omitted from the index are vital statistics (births or obituaries); sports; and social news. Only highlights of the Nevada biennial legislative sessions are selected. National news is excluded unless it pertains directly or exclusively to Nevada.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A 3x5 card file index in two sections: SUBJECTS and PERSONAL NAMES. Each card contains one entry. Each card consists of the subject heading or name at the top, followed by the headline, byline (author), citation, note for illustrations, note for clipping placed in Nevada Pamphlet file, and finally a sometimes lengthy annotation describing the contents of the article. The citation consists of the name of the paper, the month, day, year, section and page(s).
SIZE OF INDEX:  About 60 entries per month are added to the current index.
