AVAILABILITY:  Only one copy of this card file index exists. It must be used in the library of the New Harmony Workingmen's Institute.
SCOPE OF INDEX:  The emphasis is on items of interest concerning the early New Harmony Community and other items from around the nation and world which were of interest to the early New Harmony residents. Important personal names included in the index include Robert Owen, Robert Dale Owen and William Maclure.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A 3x5 card file index in two sections: SUBJECTS and PERSONAL NAMES. There is one handwritten entry per card and they are filed in alphabetical order. Entries consist of a brief description of the article, followed by the volume, page and column where the article appeared.
SIZE OF INDEX:  Approximately 5,000 entries in total.
