SCOPE OF INDEX: Broad subject index, including fires, elections, etc. The emphasis is on local news, including Westchester County. All stories about Westchester County are listed under that subject heading. Also includes references to famous buildings or locations, such as Glen Island. Omitted from the index are obituaries, advertisements, routine social and sports events, letters to the editor, and editorials. |
FORMAT OF INDEX: A 3x5 card file index arranged in alphabetical order. Usually several entries per card (about 1,500 cards in total). Entries consist of a brief (1 or 2 line) description, followed by the month, day, year, page and column. |
SIZE OF INDEX: About 6,000 entries in the entire index. |
