AVAILABILITY:  Only one copy of this card file index exists. It must be used in the North Kingstown Free Library.
SCOPE OF INDEX:  Because the index is for a newspaper covering the North Kingstow, Jamestown, and Exeter area, only news of those towns are indexed. In addition to important news items, stories concerning town agencies, organizations, businesses, churches, individuals and major sports events are also indexed. Editorials, marriages and obituaries are always included, but routine social and sports events and non-news columns are omitted.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A 3x5 card file index arranged in alphabetical order. General subjects and personal names are interfiled, but, there is a separate file for both marriages and obituaries. There is usually more than one entry per card. Entries consist of the headline, a brief description (optional), and the citation. The citation includes the month, day, year and page. Special abbreviations indicate editorials, letter to editor, and pictures.
SIZE OF INDEX:  To date ther are over 1,200 cards. The current index grows at the rate of 120 entries per month.
