AVAILABILITY: A copy of this book form index is available for public use in the Legislative Library. Photocopies of the index may be purchased at the prevailing page rate. |
SCOPE OF INDEX: The Commonwealth is the official newspaper of the Saskatchewan section of the New Democratic Party. The index excludes very brief local NDP association and general newsnotes, advertisements, (unless particularly significant), cartoons, and book reviews. Letters to the editor are also excluded unless particularly significant. Otherwise, coverage is comprehensive. |
FORMAT OF INDEX: The current index is kept on 3x5 slips of paper. When a sufficient quantity of slips have been collected, the index is typed onto 8½x11 inch pages. One such paper index covering 1970-1974 has so far been produced. It contains 86 pages. Both subjects and personal names are interfiled in the same alphabet. Following each heading are the entries. The entries appear to be in random order (neither chronological not alphabetic). Each entry consists of the headline and/or a brief description, followed by the citation. The citation indicates the month, day, year and page number. |
SIZE OF INDEX: About 100 entries per month are added to the current index. |
