SCOPE OF INDEX:  Indexes local and regional information about people and the following broad topical areas: agriculture, amusements, building, business, civic, counties, disasters, education, history, indians, industries, institutions, legal, military, minerals, organizations, political, public utilities, religion, roads, Sherman, taxes, transportation, and veterans.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A book form index typewritten on 8½x11 inch pages. The index is divided into two sections: BIOGRAPHICAL and SUBJECTS. Within the biographical section the arrangement is alphabetical by last name. Entries consist of a brief description followed by the month, day, year, page, and column numbers. Within the subject section, the arrangement is first by broad topical area (see Scope note) and then chronologically. The entries go down the right hand side of the page and consist of the headline or a brief description followed by the date, page, and column. Many of these entries have subheadings or keywords preceding them down the left hand side of the page. These are not in alphabetical order but may help when scanning for a specific topic.
