AVAILABILITY:  A published index. The current year (1980) is published in 3 quarterly and 1 annual edition and costs $135. The 1979 annual cumulation is still available for $90. Copies of the index are available for public use in the Albuquerque Public Library (501 Copper NW, Albuquerque NM 87102).
SCOPE OF INDEX:  In addition to all New Mexico news and most feature articles, national news related to New Mexico is also included. Other types of articles indexed include: editorials; reviews of art exhibits, books concerts, theater productions and other forms of entertainment produced in New Mexico; household hints; hard-to-find information sources; local columns of gardening, business, etc; and obituaries which appear as news items, providing the deceased has ever lived in New Mexico. Omitted from the index are wire service items not related to New Mexico; advertisements; vital statistics columns; society personal notes; routine sports events; and social and fraternal meetings. Criminal news is omitted unless an article is featured with a 2-column headline or a photograph. News items of upcoming events are generally omitted since indexing of the actual event is done when it occurs.

The index is arranged in alphabetical order with both SUBJECTS and PERSONAL NAMES interfiled. Within each subject, the entries are in chronological order. Each entry consists of the headline (shortened if necessary) followed by the month, day, section and page where the article appeared. Special types of articles (Action Line, Impact section, editorials) are noted. Accompanying photos or illustrations are also indicated.
SIZE OF INDEX:  About 11,000 entries in the 1979 annual cumulation (189 pages).
