SCOPE OF INDEX: Not comprehensive. Indexes items judged to be of local interest and significance (City of Superior, Douglas County, and Wisconsin). Since September 1977 all obituaries of local residents have been included. Prior to that, obituary indexing was more restricted. |
FORMAT OF INDEX: A 3x5 card file index divided into two sections: PERSONAL NAMES and SUBJECTS. Within each section, the slips are arranged in alphabetical order. Each slip contains several entries. Each entry begins with the citation (initials of newspaper, month, day, year, page, and column) and is followed by the headline. |
SIZE OF INDEX: About 115 entries per month are added to the current index. |
