AVAILABILITY:  A published index. Subscriptions are available consisting of a weekly index, with monthly and quarterly cumulations. Write for prices. The index is available for public use at the Tacoma News Tribune, by appointment only.
SCOPE OF INDEX:  The emphasis is on national and international news, along with state government and legislative news. Letters to the editor, names of accident victims, and accused criminals are also included. Omitted from the index are city, county, and local people and topics, along with vital statistics, obituaries, advertising, and sports events.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A book form index consisting of computer printout on 8½x11 inch pages. The entries are arranged in alphabetical order by subject or personal name. A single entry occupies one or two lines. It consists of the subject heading (or personal name) followed by the word SEE, and then comes the citation and the annotation (either the headline and/or a brief description of the article). The citation indicates the month, day, year, and page where the article appeared. Accompanying photos are also noted.
SIZE OF INDEX:  About 2000 entries per month are added to the current index. There were a total of 50,000 entries for 1975-1976. About 50 pages per month index.
