SCOPE OF INDEX: Stories indexed must be of interest to Shelby County and the University of Montevallo community. Generally sports news is omitted unless it is "front page" news or is a summary of the season, championship game, or involves the university community. Social news, weddings, births, etc. are omitted unless they are "front page" news. Obituaries have been included in the index since November 1977. |
FORMAT OF INDEX: A 3x5 card file index with both subjects and personal names interfiled in a single alphabetical order. Each card contains a single typed entry consisting of the subject heading, the headline or a brief description of the article, and the citation (year, month, day, section, page, and column). Accompanying photographs are also noted. |
SIZE OF INDEX: Approximately 200 entries per month are added to the index. |
