AVAILABILITY:  Only one copy of this index exists. It is on slips of paper in the home of the compiler, Patti O'Dell.
SCOPE OF INDEX:  Primarily a genealogical index. It has birth, death, marriage, and divorce entries. It also indexes articles about particular people (i.e. telling about their hobbies, a series about senior citizens, etc). The emphasis of the index is on people who lived in the area. However, articles concerning the history of the community may also be included such as a history of a church, building of a new airport, discovery of Indian artifacts, etc.).
FORMAT OF INDEX:  The index is compiled on 2x3 inch paper slips in handwritten form. The entries are arranged in order using the "soundex" system. Each entry contains the soundex code, the name of the individual, a brief description of the article, the name of the newspaper, and the date (month, day, year). The slips are kept in one of two sections: PERSONAL NAMES or LOCAL HISTORY.
SIZE OF INDEX:  Approximately 75,000 entries.
