AVAILABILITY:  Four copies of this book form index have been produced. A copy is available for public use at the Fort Wayne Public Library (Fort Wayne IN).
SCOPE OF INDEX:  All deaths and obituaries for McDonough County or any surrounding counties. Does not include deaths of national figures mentioned in the paper. Includes all marriage licenses for McDonough County as well as all out-of-county marriages. Includes the following miscellaneous items of genealogical interest: 50th wedding anniversaries; reports of long-lost relatives visting one another; some veterans' reunions; list of burials at Macomb's Oakland Cemetary (not reported for every year); etc.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A chronology plus a surname index. Uses the same style and format as the Astoria ARGUS index. (See LATHROP REPORT #1174A for a description and samples.)
SIZE OF INDEX:  For the period 1880-1894 there are five physical volumes averaging 170 pages each, of which 20 pages are given over to the surname index to the chronology.
